Koh Chang

Staying in a remote place doesn’t mean being away from everything. Baan Salak Phet offers numerous amazing small shops and a few local handcrafts stores recycling coconut shells. More practically, the travelers will find in the village most of their needs such as an ATM or if necessary a first care unit related to the Koh Chang Hospital of Baan Dan Mai.

Some famous Seafood, Vegetarian and Thai restaurants are in the vicinity, but for those in needs of fast food, bars, disco or go-go clubs, Salak Phet is not the place to stay as Local council fortuitously banned any initiative having wrong influence on the community. Instead, all activities in favor of sustainable development are strongly supported.

During the past years the west coast of Koh Chang chased a similar trend observed at Samui or Phuket amongst the touristic destinations, offering hundreds of restaurants and hotels located in famous areas such as White Sand Beach. Over there, tourists have plenty of choice of 7-eleven, souvenirs shops, tailor’s and many bars and dancing clubs to enjoy the night life.

Such lively spot can be interesting for a day trip to explore as this crowded area is only located within a 45 minutes drive from the preserved Salak Phet bay.
